Sam has been chosen as Starfish because of his wonderful portrayal of Herod in our Christmas nativity. He did an amazing job acting so well and projecting his voice to the very back of the church. Well done, Sam!

Our Stars are Tom and Iris because they have been working very hard.

Elliott has been awarded the Starfish prize this week. He has been working really well planning his story from another culture and has begun to write his opening and build up. Elliott has shown enthusiasm when writing his story but has also looked to improve it too. In our nativity he has an important role- which he has taken very seriously when preparing!

Josh and Katie are our Stars this week who have also tried hard when creating their story from another culture.

Enjoy your weekend!

Showcase: Elliott Island Homework

I was coming home from hunting at night when I heard a deafening racket coming from inside my shelter…

“What on earth is going on in there?” I said to myself.

I nervously went to investigate what the noise was.  My heart was thumping so loud I hoped that whatever was inside couldn’t hear it.

“Come on Elliott… count to ten, keep calm.” I whispered to myself.Showcase badge

“How dare you build on Doom Island!” boomed an immense man.

“How dare you go in my tent!” I said shaking inside.

“Who do you think you are talking to me like that?” he replied. “I am Banger the Great, the most powerful and strongest ruler of Doom Island in all history.”

There was a silence that seemed to go on forever. Suddenly, I had the best thought that could get me out of this mess.

“But I am the King of Zuzu Island. It is the biggest island in the world, if you don’t leave my shelter I will get my army to attack so…….. GO!” I bellowed.

“Show me some proof,” he said laughing.

I was panicking, starting to sweat with nerves…..then in a flash of inspiration it came to me.

“Take a look at this,” I said proudly while pulling out of my pocket a picture of me dressed up as King Henry in a school production.

Banger the Great looked at my picture and paused then the King of Doom Island ran like the wind into the distance.

“Phew! Hope that’s the end of him,” I thought as I sat down to eat my catch of the day.

The Time Machine Homework Week 4

Week 4

You go to investigate some strange sounds and you meet  people from the time you are visiting. They wonder who you are and are a bit scared of you. You have to try to talk yourself out of a lot of trouble. Write out your conversation, remember to use speech marks and the important rule- new speaker, new line. Do you make friends in the end or do you have to run away?

‘’Why did I wander into this stupid, scary island?’’ Miss Rogerson asked herself.

Suddenly, she heard a rustling behind her in the gigantic palm leaves. As quick as a flash, she zoomed around. Facing her were 15 incredibly giant Pharaohs. They were staring down at Miss Rogerson, wondering what she was doing on their beautiful island.

‘’I’m…sorry….I was trying to find….’’ Miss Rogerson stuttered.

The colossal Pharaoh yelled, ‘’WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON OUR LAND?’’

 Homework due Wednesday 27th November.

As I step out of my time machine(which looks out of place), I feel a cold rush of air brush against my skin and a strong smell of smoke. People are screaming in the distance and I can see red, orange, yellow flames dancing above the tree tops.

I decide to investigate, my curiosity overwhelming my fear. As I trudge up the steep hill, I hear more violent screams and battle cries.

As I reach the top of the hill… “VIKINGS!” I seemed to blurt out as if my life depended on it. I wanted to turn and run but I was frozen,  to scared to move. I looked back, my time machine was still there, maybe if I was quick I could… too late, they were coming.

The only thing that was running through my mind was… hide… I tried to climb a tree, I tried to find a hole anything, but no, I had to make a quick decision, Run.

I ran as fast as I could, the fact that I would be back soon was the only thing that kept me going.

When I got to the time machine I swung open the door and leaped through the open doors…

Finally safe.

Well done, Seb. You have worked very hard to deserve this award!

Will is our star this week because he took part in some super science experimenting, including defining a solid, liquid and gas, which he did very well. Perhaps Will is a future scientist?

The Island Week 3

You need a shelter

Write instructions that could help someone in a similar situation to yourself. Explain which materials would be best to protect you from weather and animals on your island.

Make sure that your instructions are easy to understand. How can we make instructions easy to follow? Perhaps numbers or bullet points may help.

If you wish to include diagrams to help your explanation, bring these into school and we can add them to our blog as photographs.

Homework due Wednesday 20th November.

There was some excellent homework produced last week- keep it up!
